/ 06:23 PM October 16, 2018

A senatorial hopeful collapsed on Tuesday morning shortly before filing his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the 2019 polls.

Romeo Rodriguez, 61, collapsed at the lobby of the main office of the Comelec in Intramuros, Manila.

“He collapsed at the ground floor of Palacio del Gobernador, and he was immediately attended to by the Red Cross team,” a secretariat staff member at the Comelec said.

Rodriguez, who went to the Comelec office apparently alone, was taken to the Manila Medical Center, the staffer  said.

The Comelec has no information on his condition as of this posting. /atm
