A key border crossing between Syria and Jordan was officially reopened on Oct. 15 after being closed for more than three years, according to reports from both countries.
Jordan’s state-run news agency, Petra, reported that “some investors” crossed to the Syrian side.
Syrian government forces captured the Naseeb-Jaber border crossing on July 7, following a surrender by rebels.
Reuters reported that the border crossing’s closure in 2015 cut a vital transit route which accounted for billions of dollars in trade between Turkey, the Gulf and Lebanon.
The footage above, posted by Jordan’s Alghad Newspaper via Facebook today Oct. 15, shows the reopening of the border crossing. The man in the video is described as a Jordanian citizen traveling to Damascus for tourism purposes. JB
