14 hurt in Zamboanga City road accident
ZAMBOANGA CITY— Fourteen passengers, including five children, were injured when a public utility jeepney turned turtle on Cawit road here around 10:45 a.m. on Monday.
Chief Inspector Shellamae Tubo-Chang, the spokesperson of the Zamboanga City Police Office, said the red passenger jeepney with license plate KVS 102 “lost [control of] its brake upon reaching the blind curve portion of the road along Zone-1A, Cawit.”
The vehicle reportedly hit a steel electrical post and turned turtle. The driver, Amir Alih, and his passengers sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies and were rushed to different hospitals for treatment.
Alih said he and his family were traveling on that day to settle differences over an elopement issue.
The victims were identified as Nurhana Kamlian, 48; Islay Nuring, 26 ; Abser Manalos, 24; Ainalyn Alipuddin, 46; Amir Maddih Alih, 39; Nur-aina Isdari, 24; Abdil Aziz Isdari, 21; Aldrin Isdari, 18; Mawa Isdari, 55; and five children Khalifa Abdusala, Mihada Isdari, Alizza Isdari Cabbah and Mawaddah Ahid Alih and Jumadil Sarabi. /ee
