National Union Party adopts candidates from newly formed Bicol party

LEGAZPI CITY—  Kusog Bikolandia (KB), a newly formed regional political party based in the Bicol region, has entered into a tactical coalition with the National Unity Party (NUP), a national party accredited by Commission on Elections (Comelec) on October 5, 2011.

Noel De Luna, Kusog Bikolandia chairman, said on Monday that the NUP adopted the KB candidates because their application for registration as a political party is still pending at the Comelec.

“With acceptance from National Unity Party, the official candidates for 2019 midterm elections throughout the Bicol region can be accepted and adopted as NUP’s local candidates for various posts from congressman to mayor, Sangguniang Panlungsod and Sangguniang Bayan members,” De Luna said.

NUP was formed by former members of the Lakas CMD party. In 2016, the party became part of the PDP Laban-lead coalition at the House of Representatives.

“With the tactical coalition between NUP and KB, the Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) as requirement for the KB candidates’ certificates of candidacy will be furnished to all KB candidates, which they can attach to their COCs (Certificate of Candidacy) to be filed  on or before the October 17, 2018 deadline,” De Luna said. /ee
