Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito filed on Monday his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the 2019 elections, as he is set to compete with his brother Jinggoy Estrada in the senatorial race.
Ejercito will run under the banner of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC). He recently took his oath as an NPC member after leaving the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino of his father Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada.
“I would like to continue the advocacies that I have started,” he said in a press briefing after filing his candidacy.
He said he wants a second stint at the Senate to pursue infrastructure projects, including improving airports in the country.
“Ang akin pong pagaalala ay baka wala nang ibang magtuloy (My worry is that nobody might continue the projects),” he said.

Ejercito, who first claimed a Senate seat in 2013, is seeking his second term as senator in the upcoming polls.
Meanwhile, his brother Jinggoy, who is a former senator, has also declared his intention to run for the same post in 2019. /je
