Former Senator and action star Lito Lapid on Monday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) and made his comeback bid to the Senate in the 2019 midterm elections official.
Lapid was accompanied by his son Mark, who also ran for senator in the 2016 polls, when he lodged his COC at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Intramuros, Manila.
Lapid, however, refused to be interviewed by reporters after he filed his candidacy.
Someone from the crowd teased Lapid, saying he might be accused of not knowing how to answer questions if he will say no to the ambush interview.
But Lapid continued to walk outside the filing area of poll body, and said in jest that he really did not know how to answer questions.
“Hindi [ko] nga [alam] (I really don’t know),” he answered.
Lapid will run for senator under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
Lapid’s term at the Senate ended in 2016. He then ran for mayor of Angeles City, Pampanga but lost to Edgardo Pamintuan by more than 30,000 votes. /kga
