FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City – The country’s premier military academy has a new superintendent.

Despite a light shower, the Philippine Military Academy proceeded with its turn-over ceremonies where Major Gen. Donato San Juan II formally relinquished his post as PMA superintendent to Major Gen. Ronnie Evangelista on Friday afternoon.

San Juan, a member of PMA “Maharlika” Class of 1984, officially retired on Friday, his 56th birthday, after 38 years of military service. He had served as PMA superintendent since February 2016.

Evangelista is a member of PMA “Sinagtala” Class of 1986. He commanded the Armed Forces’ Civil Relations Service, and was assigned to the Army’s Special Operations Command before his reassignment at PMA.

The ceremonies were led by Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr. who credited San Juan for three decades of “excellent leadership.”
