President Rodrigo Duterte said he had asked Teodoro “Boy” Locsin to replace Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, who is expected to leave his post and run for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2019 elections.

Duterte made the confirmation on Friday upon his arrival from Bali, Indonesia after attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Leaders’ Meet.

The President had said that he has already found a replacement for Cayetano, whom he opted not to name just yet.

“I don’t know if Teddy Boy has agreed to be DFA secretary. Siya, sabi niya (pointing to Go),” Duterte said.

Locsin is currently the Philippine Ambassador to the United Nations.
