Actor and Quezon City Councilor Roderick Paulate filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on Thursday at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Quezon City as he guns to be the city’s next vice mayor in the 2019 midterm polls.

Paulate will be running with former Quezon City Representative Ismael “Chuck” Mathay who also filed his COC on Thursday as a mayoralty bet in next year’s elections.

Mathay will be running against Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte while Paulate will go against City Councilor Gian Sotto.

Paulate earlier faced graft and falsification charges after the Ombudsman linked him to the alleged hiring of ghost employees in 2010. However, despite the Ombudsman’s order for his dismissal, Paulate still managed to get re-elected as Quezon City councilor in 2016.
