CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Central Luzon police will field 4,517 cops, roughly half of the regional police force, beginning on Thursday to secure politicians who will file their certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the May 2019 midterm elections.

The regional police also tightened security in all offices of the Commission on Elections in the seven provinces including towns and cities there, said Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, regional police director.

Cops will be handling police assistance desk and managing traffic and civil disturbances. “Our aim is to ensure safe, orderly and peaceful filing of COCs starting on October 11 up to the last day of filing on October 17… We aim for zero incident,” Corpus said. /je
