Woman killed, 14 hurt as ‘kuliglig’ falls into farm canal

CABAGAN, Isabela —- A woman died, while 14 others were hurt, when a tractor-drawn trailer (kuliglig) fell off a canal at a corn field in Garita village at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning (Oct. 10), police said.

Police said Josefa Bautista, one of the “kuliglig” passengers, was declared dead at the Milagros District Hospital.

Police identified the other imjured passengers as James Bautista, Jesus Bautista, Melissa Bautista, Marvin Bautista, Lenie Panganiban, Vinia Panganiban, Paul Panganiban, Victor Panganiban, Hermenia Panganiban, Ronald Panganiban, Genalyn Abellon, Lenie Panganiban,  Charles Pagurayan and Ariel Pagurayan.

According to police Ariel Pagurayan was driving the kuliglig to Masipi West village to harvest corn when he miscalculated the turn at a sharp curve. the kuliglig then toppled over the canal, throwing off its passengers.  /muf
