SAN PEDRO CITY – A tarpaulin displayed in front of the municipal hall of Bauan town in Batangas province seemed a bit odd to some netizens as it referred to two mayors in the town.
The tarpaulin meant for the Teachers Day Celebration came from the local government officials, particularly mayor Bojie Casapao.
However, below Casapao’s picture is that of another official, Ryanh Dolor also referred to as mayor.
In a phone interview Tuesday, Casapao said “meron ba? (Is there really?)” when asked by the Inquirer about the tarpaulin.
He clarified that Dolor is the municipal administrator.
Casapao said people have gotten used to calling Dolor “mayor” as he was the former local chief executive from 2007 to 2016.
Dolor was replaced by his father, Herminigildo, but the older Dolor died midway his term last June due to an illness.
Casapao, who was originally elected vice mayor, succeeded Herminigildo.
In a Facebook page called “Taga Bauan Batangas ka kung..(You’re from Bauan, Batangas if..),” netizens asked how came there were two mayors.
