DAVAO CITY — City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Monday called the teachers-members of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT-Davao) here as terrorists and sympathizers of terrorist groups after she was apparently irked with the group’s claim that only Davao City did not give allowance to public school teachers.
“So, ACT Teachers Davao, hindi lang kayo terrorista at sympathizer ng mga terrorista, you are also LIARS,” Duterte-Carpio said in her Instagram post on Monday.
The local chief executive was reacting to a social media meme posted by a local radio network Radyo Ni Juan during the global observance of World Teacher’s Day last October 5.
The meme, created by ACT-Davao, showed the list of cities across the country and the amount of allowances given to public school teachers with Davao as the only city that has “ZERO” allowances for public school teachers.
Duterte-Carpio said the local government unit of Davao gave gift cheques worth P2,000 a year to all DepEd employees in December 2016 and 2017.
“We have copies of the budget, pictures of distribution and the liquidation with all signatures. Pahirapan pa nga magpa approve ng grant ninyo at kami pa ang nasa alanganin and you have the temerity to lie. Kung puwede lang sana kayo expel outside of Davao City,” she said.
She said ACT-Davao was “never sincere” after she waited for their papers but the group “always keep missing opportunities.”
“DepEd should dismiss terrorists from their ranks, how ironic for the government to pay public money to people who work against the government. Congress should expel the members of Makabayan bloc, the Partylist system is the milking cow of terrorists,” an irate Sara added.
In the same Instagram post, the Davao City mayor also questioned Radyo ni Juan, branding the radio station as anti-government.
“And why would NTC give a permit to an anti-government station Radyo ni Juan? Why is our government supporting the same people who want to overthrow it?” she asked./lb
