The Roman Catholic archdiocese of Manila is gearing for the arrival of its new archbishop on December 12.
Archbishop-designate Luis Antonio Tagle will take over from Manila Archbishop Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales during the installation ceremony at the Manila Cathedral, which is expected to be attended by top Catholic leaders and other personalities from the religious, political and business sectors.
Church sources said President Benigno Aquino III was invited to the ceremony but there was a possibility that he might not be able to attend as December 12 is also the turnover rites for the new chief-of-staff at the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
