The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation has expanded Pampanga toll plazas in three major exits by constructing additional toll lanes.

Included in the expansion were the toll plazas located in San Fernando, Mexico, and Angeles in Pampanga.

Lawyer Romulo S. Quimbo, SVP for Stakeholder Management and Communication of NLEX Corporation, said on Monday that the expansion aims to lessen the transaction of the public going out the busy metropolis.

“Apart from increasing the service capacity, the NLEX enhancement projects will considerably bring relief to motorists by reducing transaction time at the toll lane,” Quimbo said in a statement.

With the said expansion, two toll lanes would be added at the San Fernando southbound exit and one additional toll lane for its southbound entry.

The Angeles toll plaza, meanwhile, will have an addition of two entry lanes and one exit lane.

“This move is expected to alleviate mounting traffic issues in Angeles City, which is also one of the busiest areas in NLEX,” Quimbo said.

Lastly, motorists passing through the Mexico toll plaza would experience faster toll transaction as the NLEX corporation is constructing an additional exit lane.

Aside from the three major exits that link Pampanga to the busy streets of Metro Manila, Quimbo also said that additional lanes will be constructed at the connecting ramps of NLEX and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.

He said that all constructions and enhancements of the toll plazas are expected to be finish by the end of 2018. /je
