A magnitude 4.9 earthquake rocked Surigao del Sur on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The report said the tectonic tremor struck at 5:54 a.m.
Phivolcs traced its epicenter 30 kilometers northeast of Cortes, Surigao del Sur at a depth of 22 kilometers.
No reported intensities were recorded as of this writing.
The agency also said that no damage and aftershocks could be expected despite the high level of magnitude. /cbb
