LUCENA CITY – Two motorcycle riders and a cyclist died in two separate road accidents in Catanauan and Candelaria towns in Quezon province on Thursday, police said.
Police Officer 3 Dexter Bata, Catanauan police investigator, said brothers Albert de los Santos, 28m and Alexander, 18, who was driving, lost control of their vehicle while traversing the national road in Barangay San Isidro around 11:30 p.m.
Police said the siblings suffered fatal head and boy injuries and died while being taken to Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital.
Bata said the victims and two other riders in another motorcycle, Rommel Ampeloquio and Jeffrey Delica, came from the town and bought liquor to continue their drinking session.
Alexander overtook the other motorcycle but accidentally sideswiped it. Both drivers consequently lost control of their vehicles and all riders were thrown off from their motorcycles.
Ampeloquio and Delica suffered injuries.
Police said the four were found to be under the influence of liquor when the accident happened. Alexander was also driving without a license.
In Candelaria town, Nathan Sales, 41, was bumped by a truck driven by Perfecto Muana Jr. while crossing the Maharlika Highway aboard his bicycle in Barangay Malabanban Sur around 2:30 p.m.
The victim suffered fatal head and body injuries and died on the spot, a report from Quezon police said.
The truck driver voluntarily surrendered to the authorities and was detained at the town police jail.
