‘Queenie’ exits PAR, heads to South Korea — Pagasa

Typhoon “Queenie” (international name: Kong-Rey) exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Thursday night and is now heading towards South Korea, the state bureau weather said.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Queenie” was last spotted 825 kilometers (km) north-northeast of Basco, Batanes at 3 a.m. Friday.

“Queenie” is packing maximum sustained winds of 120 km per hour (kph) and gusts up to 145 kph. It is moving west-northwest at 25 kph.

Pagasa said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain due to localized thunderstorms.

Pagasa also reported that Northern Luzon will experience strong to gale force winds, while the rest of Luzon will experience moderate winds.

“Queenie” exited the country at about 7 p.m. on Thursday. It entered PAR last Monday but never made landfall anywhere in the country, Pagasa said. /muf
