DID YOU KNOW: 149th birth anniversary of Francisco Roman
Today, Oct. 4, is the 149th birth anniversary of revolutionary leader Francisco “Paco” Roman.
Born in 1869, he managed his family’s tobacco factory in Tondo, Manila, until the outbreak of the Philippine Revolution in August 1896.
He served as Gen. Antonio Luna’s first aide-de-camp and fought in the Filipino-American War.

Together with Luna, Roman was assassinated in June 1899.
The 30-year-old colonel was buried beside Luna at Cabanatuan Cemetery. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
