At a Senate budget hearing on Tuesday, AFP chief of staff Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr. said communist rebels are recruiting students in some Metro Manila schools for the alleged ouster plot.
While he did not name the universities, Galvez said the communists are conducting an “information drive” to show the youth the “different approaches during the Marcos regime and equate that to the present administration.”
The AFP added that the “broad coalition plot” started last Sept. 21 and will continue until the CPP’s 50th founding anniversary in December.
“They will use the existing issues including inflation. And also, they’re painting the government that it will have what they call a dictatorship and tyranny,” he said.
Parlade said the communists have been recruiting students for a long time but the ongoing recruitment has been “heightened.”
“Ini-incite nila ang mga estudyante na mag alsa dahil nga dito sa mga issues ng EJK (extrajudicial killings),” he told reporters.
