‘Bakbakan’? I’m already black and blue, Binay says of Mocha’s threat

After being beaten “black and blue” in the past, Senator Nancy Binay is not at all scared or bothered by resigned Assistant Communications Secretary Mocha Uson’s threat to fight back at some lawmakers.

“Naman… sa pinagdaanan ko (Of course… with all that I’ve been through),” Binay told reporters on Wednesday.

“Na-black and blue na nga ako. Hindi na nga nawala e, nag-stain na ‘yung black,” she said in jest, apparently making fun of her own complexion.

Besides, she said being criticized is just part of the job of a public servant like her.

“Teka sandali bakit ina-assume niyo na ako ang atatakehin niya?” Binay asked reporters.

(Wait, why are you assuming that I’ll be the one she’ll attack?)

The senator, nevertheless, recognized that Uson has the freedom to attack anyone “for as long as no government funds are being spent.”

In an earlier interview at the Senate after announcing her resignation, Uson vowed to continue her fight, noting how some lawmakers have been using their posts for their personal agenda.

“Marami po dyan kasi ‘yung mga epal na senador at mga kongresista…Kasi somosobra na sila e,” the former public official said.

(There are a lot of senators and congressmen who try to butt in other people’s business… they’re going overboard.)

“Abangan niyo lang na po. May blog naman po ako so raratsada tayo dun. Bakbakan na ‘to. Bakbabakan na talaga ito,” she added.

(Stay tuned. I have a blog so we’ll go full force there. It’s time to attack. It’s really time to attack.)

While she respects Uson’s resignation, Binay saw it as a missed opportunity for the resigned official to answer all allegations being hurled at her.

“Sayang ‘yung opportunity to prove everybody wrong. Parang ito yung pagkakataon na ipakita niya sa lahat na she deserved to be called Asec. Mocha Uson, but hindi niya ginawa ‘yun,” she said.

(She missed the opportunity to prove everybody wrong. This was her chance to show everyone that she deserved to be called Asec. Mocha Uson, but she didn’t do it.)

“She opted na mag-resign na lang so I guess respetuhin na lang natin ‘yun decision niya na magbitaw sa pwesto,” the senator added.

(She opted to resign so I guess let’s just respect her decision to let go of her post.) /je
