Janelle Manahan submits application in gov’t’s Witness Protection Program

MANILA, Philippines—Janelle Manahan, girlfriend of slain actor Ramgen Bautista aka Ram Revilla, formally submitted her application for inclusion in the government’s Witness Protection Program (WPP) on Thursday.

In a two-page letter, Manahan said her life, as well as that of her family’s, is in danger since some of the suspects in the killing of Bautista are still at large.

Her letter was delivered to the office of Justice Secretary de Lima by her lawyer, Resty Mendoza.

Mendoza said Manahan and her family are being provided security in a safe-house by Task Force Ramgen.

Bautista was shot and stabbed to death by a hooded man on October 28. Manahan, who was with him in his house in BF Homes, Parañaque, survived with a gunshot wound on her face.

In statements given to media and her lawyers, Manahan said the Bautista siblings have been bickering over their allowances weeks before the killing.

At least two witnesses have named Bautista’s younger brother, Ramon Joseph, as the mastermind. Two other Bautista siblings, Ramona and Gail, have also been implicated.

The Bautistas are the children of former Senator Ramon Revilla and Genelyn Magsaysay. Revilla was a popular movie actor before he joined politics.
