FDA warns on counterfeit Palmolive shampoo, conditioner

05:30 AM October 02, 2018

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has advised the public to first check out the markings of a popular brand of shampoo to ensure that what they are buying are not the counterfeit items that had been found in the market.

In an advisory, FDA Director General Nela Charade Puno said they had verified with Colgate-Palmolive Philippines Inc. that four sachet variants of its Palmolive shampoo and conditioner line did not conform to the company’s product standards.

The counterfeit products were labeled with the same manufacturing code, 031117TH111404, and had unreadable manufacturing and expiry dates.

Puno cautioned against the use of the potentially hazardous products, as these did not pass through the FDA’s safety assessment and verification process. —Jovic Yee
