2 killed, 2 hurt in van-motorcycle collision

Two people on a motorcycle died after their vehicle collided with a van on Congressional Avenue, Quezon City, on Friday night.

Casiano Dequiña, a 56-year-old businessman, and Leonida Garcia, a 54-year-old caregiver, were killed outright.

The van driver identified as Aldrich Louise Vicente, a 20-year-old student from Novaliches, faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property, multiple homicide and multiple physical injuries.

The Quezon City police traffic enforcement unit said Vicente lost control of the van on Congressional Avenue.

It veered toward the median strip and collided with the motorbike of Dequiña and Garcia that was in the opposite lane.

Due to the impact, both victims were thrown off the motorcycle and killed outright.

The collision also injured Vicente’s companions who were also students.
