CALASIAO, PANGASINAN — A man attacked his older sister and his niece with a bolo on Saturday night after a heated argument over curtains that were being put up in their ancestral house.

Lita Agsalud, a 54-year-old widow, and her daughter Alma, 25, are now being treated in a hospital for injuries inflicted by Lita’s brother, Julian Hiteroza, 48, at 7:15 p.m. in their house in Barangay (village) Banaoang, according to SPO1 Apollo Flandez, police investigator here.

Lita was installing a curtain that would serve as a divider on their house’s second floor when she was stopped by Hiteroza, triggering a shouting match. As they yelled at each other, Hiteroza took a bolo and struck Lita in the head. Alma tried to pacify her uncle who then slashed her multiple times.

Hiteroza is now detained at the Calasiao police jail here and will be facing frustrated homicide cases, Flandez said. /je
