‘Batman’ comes to rescue of drug suspect, both end up dead

SAN PEDRO CITY – Two men tagged by the police as illegal drug pushers were killed in a buy-bust operation in this city, the authorities said Sunday.

City police chief Supt. Giovannie Martinez identified the target of the operation as Michael Samson, who was included in the city police’s watchlist for drug suspects.

He said Samson sold an undercover policeman a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) in Barangay (village) San Antonio at about 7 p.m. Saturday.

In a text message, Martinez said the suspect must have realized he was dealing with a police officer that he drew out a gun and began shooting.

Samson’s companion, Ariel Enesin, who police initially identified by his alias “Batman,” came to the suspect’s help and also fired shots at the police.

This prompted the authorities to shoot back.

“(When) the smoke cleared, the two (suspects) lay wounded (on the ground),” Martinez said.

Samson and Enesin died while being treated at the Amante hospital about two hours later.

The police said they recovered a .38 caliber gun from Samson and a .45 caliber from Enesin. /cbb
