At least P1.2 million worth of shabu were seized in a buy-bust operation by anti-narcotics agents in Purok Tahong, Barangay 2, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
Reports from the Western Visayas Police Regional Office on Friday said agents from the Drug Enforcement and the Intelligence Units of the Bacolod City Police, aided by barangay officials, raided the house of Edwin Jiminea and Cheryl Capadocia on Wednesday night.
Police seized 20 big sachets and two small sachets of shabu from the suspects. Also seized from the suspects were the P1,000 marked cash used in the bust and a .357 Magnum revolver.
Charges for violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 have been filed against Jiminea and Capadocia, police said.
Western Visayas Police Regional Director Chief Supt. John Bulalacao said the successful series of anti-drug operations in the region can be attributed to the involvement of the communities in fighting crime.
“All our efforts in the campaign against illegal drugs are gaining grounds and I attribute these not only to the police officers in Western Visayas but to the community members as well whose support are increasing as manifested by the surge of information being sent to me through my mobile phone,” Bulalacao said. /muf
