Veterans’ hospital director receives court order for Arroyo transfer

MANILA, Philippines — Veterans’ Memorial Medical Center Director Nona Legaspi has received the copy of the court order for the transfer of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to the government-run hospital, the court sheriff said.

Rodelio Buenviaje, who arrived at about 11 a.m., told reporters that Legaspi got the order at 12 noon.

Earlier on Thursday, the Pasay regional trial court Branch 112 ordered Arroyo’s transfer to VMMC from the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City where she has been confined since her arrest last November 18 for charges of electoral sabotage.

Arroyo is undergoing treatment for a bone disease.

But the Pasay RTC ordered to have Arroyo transferred to VMMC five days after the receipt of the court order.
