Waiting for passengers could be boring for some jeepney drivers, but for one driver, it becomes an opportunity to refresh from a day’s work by reading the Scriptures.
Netizen Maye Alojado posted on Facebook photos of a jeepney driver who was attentively reading the Bible and taking notes while waiting for passengers near a shopping mall in Biñan, Laguna.
Alojado said what she saw is a reminder for those struggling in life to still cling to God.
“Pauwi na ako kanina then habang naghihintay ng pasahero, this jeepney driver caught my attention (I was on my way home when I saw this jeepney driver who caught my attention while waiting for passengers),” she recounted in her Facebook post on Thursday, September 20.
According to Alojado, the driver seemed to have not noticed her as he was “genuinely” keen on reading the Bible. She, however, failed to get his name.
“I don’t know why he’s doing that or even his agenda while waiting for passengers, but as possibly as he could at meron pang oras (and there is still time), he would use it to read the verses,” she said.
She said the driver made her realize that even during the busiest and hardest moments, we should not forget to seek God’s word.
“Minsan kasi sa sobrang kakaisip natin ng solution para sa mga problema natin, na-o-overlook natin [na] ‘yung word ni Lord ang sasagot dun (Sometimes because we think too much of solutions to our problems, we forget that the word of the Lord is the answer),” she added.
