TUGUEGARAO CITY – A Cagayan resident hacked his nephew to death in a fit of rage on Tuesday for cutting down his trees at Gonzaga town, police said.

Pedrito Icasiano died from 47 hack wounds inflicted by his uncle, Elmer Medrano, when he was caught cutting trees intended for his typhoon-destroyed house, according to Senior Inspector James Dela Cruz, Gonzaga police chief.

Medrano rushed to his farm at the hilly part of Calayan village after being informed that Icasiano was taking some of his trees.
