4.1-magnitude quake hits Surigao del Sur

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake jolted the province of Surigao del Sur on Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The updated report said that the tremor struck at 9:08 a.m. and Phivolcs recorded its epicenter 72 kilometers northeast of Lingig, Surigao del Sur.

Phivolcs said that city of Bislig of the same province felt an intensity II tremor due to the quake.

The agency noted that no aftershocks and damages are expected from the quake that had a depth of 20 kilometers. /jpv
