Alleged drug pusher killed, 3 arrested in Lucena buy-bust

LUCENA CITY – An alleged drug pusher was killed and three others were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Lucena City on Tuesday and Wednesday, police said.

The local drug enforcement unit conducted a buy-bust operation against suspected pusher Alvin Vergara, 30, in Barangay 10 at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, said a report from Supt. Romulo Albacea, Lucena police chief.

After buying shabu from Vergara, the undercover policeman was about to arrest the suspect but the latter allegedly resisted and shot the cop with a handgun but missed.

Another undercover policeman retaliated and opened fire at the suspect who died on the spot. The victim was included in the local drug watch list.

Meanwhile, authorities collared Chester Magpantay, Jennifer Olit and Marlon Cruz in two buy-bust operations in Barangay Ibabang Iyam at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The suspects yielded 22 plastic sachets of shabu with an estimated value of P3,000.

The suspects were on the list of alleged drug pushers in the city. /cbb
