Amid ‘Red October,’ PNP gets persistent intel on groups vs admin

Trillanes denies involvement in alleged 'Red October' ouster plot vs Duterte

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is getting consistent intelligence information on groups seeking to destroy the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte, PNP Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said on Monday.

Albayalde said this as the Armed Forces of the Philippines warned  of a plot to oust the President called the “Red October,” allegedly  being hatched by anti-Duterte groups.

He said, however, that they have only been receiving raw information on such movements.

“Persistent ang intelligence information…These are raw information itong mga nakukuha natin na nag-gu-grupo, para nga sirain, not necessarily patalsikin ‘yung present administration (The intelligence information is persistent. These are raw information on people who form groups to destroy, not necessarily to oust the present administration),” he said in a press briefing.

Albayalde said he sees no reason why people would want to oust Duterte since he has been leading the country excellently.

He said even people from the lower social classes also benefit from Duterte’s leadership.

“Ayaw naman natin maliitin ‘yung kanilang effort. Pero nakita naman nila kung gaano kaganda magpalakad itong present administration. So there is no reason for us to oust the present administration,” he said.

(We don’t want to look down on their efforts. But they can see how well this present administration runs the country.)

Albayalde warned that there will be sanctions for police officers who will join these movements to oust the President. /ee
