Jejomar Binay to run for Congress in 2019

Former Vice President Jejomar Binay Sr. will run for Congress in the 2019 midterm elections, his spokesperson confirmed on Monday.

“I am confirming that former VP Binay will run as Representative for the First District [of Makati] under the ticket of [Makati] Mayor Abby Binay,” Joey Salgado said in a text message sent to reporters.


Abby Binay will run under the banner of the United Nationalist Alliance partylist.

According to Salgado, the announcement was made by the younger Binay during the flag raising ceremony at the Makati City Hall.


She also announced that she will seek re-election in the upcoming polls as mayor of Makati./je
