DAVAO CITY — President Rodrigo Duterte’s son Paolo Duterte on Monday dared Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV to prove in court that he was involved in the P6.4-billion drug smuggling case.

“Dakdak na naman. See you in court!” Paolo said in reply to the opposition senator’s plan to have the younger Duterte as a hostile witness in a Senate drug-smuggling probe.

Duterte’s statement came after Trillanes issued a statement over the weekend, saying he plans to call the former Davao City vice mayor as a hostile witness to the Senate inquiry and compel him to reveal his dragon tattoo and open his bank account.

On September 19, Duterte sued his father’s staunchest critic for libel after the senator linked him to P6.4 billion in shabu that slipped through the Bureau of Customs last year.

Paolo has belied the claim of Trillanes.

“Evidently, it was intended to malign, destroy and kill my good name and reputation, locally, nationally and internationally. This is especially so as I am the eldest son of our sitting President,” Paolo said. /cbb
