Sept. 23 to 29: Bakood Festival
The city of Bacoor in Cavite province celebrates its 347th founding anniversary and pays homage to its patron saint, St. Michael the Archangel.
The city’s tourism and trade will take center stage in a series of activities that include essay writing and history contests, drum and lyre parade and financial assistance distribution.
Sept. 23 to 29: Diyandi Festival
A festival at Iligan City in Lanao del Norte province featuring a dance ritual between a male Maranao and a female Higaonon.
The ritual culminates with an offering of their union and bountiful harvest to St. Michael the Archangel.
The festival’s name, “diyandi,” means “celebrate” in Cebuano.
Festivities include a novena, trade fair and carnival, sports competition and float parade.
Sept. 26 to 29: Paray Festival
A festival in the town of Irosin in Sorsogon province that centers around three themes — the town’s rice production, St. Michael the Archangel’s feast day, and promotion of cultural heritage and sports development.
“Paray” is local term for palay, or rice grain, the leading crop that Irosin produces. Activities include a drum and lyre competition, civic parade, concert and beauty pageant.
Sept. 29: Feast of Our Lady of Peñafrancia
Residents of San Fernando City in La Union province celebrate the feast day of Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
A fluvial procession is held along the coasts of Barangay Carlatan and Barangay Pagdaraoan.
