Pangasinan mayor’s dad killed in ambush

DAGUPAN CITY – The father of Alcala Mayor Jojo Callejo was shot dead on Saturday dawn as he drove a pick-up truck to a road construction project site in that Pangasinan town.

Gunmen riding two motorcycles ambushed Mario Callejo, 61, along the Laoac-Gualsic road at 3 a.m., police said.

The slain man was a council member of Barangay Gualsic in Alcala. He died on the way to the Sto. Niño Hospital in Bayambang town, where he was taken by his sons, Mayor Callejo and Gualsic village chief Jomar Callejo.

Investigators were looking into the business transactions of the mayor’s father.
