2 drug suspects slain in Cavite, Rizal buy-busts

SAN PEDRO CITY – A suspected illegal drug pusher was killed in a police operation in Tanza town in Cavite province early Saturday.

Joseph Orantia, who was identified by the police as a drug personality, was slain around 1 a.m. in Barangay Capipisa.

Supt. Dhefry Punzalan, Tanza police chief, said Orantia resisted arrest after selling P200 worth of alleged shabu (crystal meth) to undercover policemen.

He said the police shot Orantia when he began to open fire. The suspect died while being taken to the hospital.

The police recovered a .38 caliber gun and 15 sachets of suspected drugs.

In San Mateo, Rizal, drug suspect Philip Maquera was killed in a buy-bust operation around 1 p.m. Friday in Barangay Silangan.

A police report said Maquera was shot after resisting arrest.
