2 soldiers hurt in Quezon clash
LUCENA CITY – Two Army soldiers were wounded in an encounter with suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Macalelon town in Quezon province Friday, police said.
A report from the Quezon police identified the victims as Privates Arnold Generalao and Ralph Emerald Magtibay of the Army’s 85th Infantry Battalion.
The report said a team of soldiers from the Charlie Company was conducting a combat operation when they were ambushed by communist guerrillas in Barangay Vista Hermosa at 12:10 p.m.
The two soldiers suffered bullet wounds and were taken to a hospital in Gumaca town.
