Beware of troublemakers, Albayalde tells martial law protesters

Police Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde advised protesters to be careful of colleagues who might trigger trouble during rallies at the commemoration of the 46th anniversary of martial law declaration.

Albayalde made the comment as protesters gathered on Friday in various parts of the country to remember the evils of the martial law era during the Marcos regime.

“‘Yung mga nagrarally, mag-iingat din po tayo. Hindi lahat ng kasama natin diyan ay talagang magrarally lang… o gusto lang ipagbigay alam publicly ang kanilang saloobin,” he told reporters in an interview.

(Those attending rallies, be careful. Not all of your colleagues just want to join rallies… or just want to publicly express their sentiments.)

“Meron po dyan kapag infiltrated ‘yung isang grupo, baka mamaya mag-initiate ng hindi maganda o violent na action (There could be an infiltrated group that might initiate a violent action),” he said.

Albayalde, meanwhile, assured that security forces are prepared to deal with any trouble that might occur during today’s protests.

He also said that rallies as of this posting remain “very peaceful.”

“Wala tayong namomonitor na nanggugulo sa kalsada (We don’t monitor anyone who causes a disturbance in the streets),” he said.
