Lightning strike hurts 2 in Zambales

SUBIC, Zambales- Two women were hurt after they were struck by lightning in a remote village here on Thursday afternoon (Sept. 20).

Francisca Dela Cruz, 42, and Gina Calisag, 46, both residents of Barangay (village) Cawag, were resting under a tree near a store that was struck by lightning  at 3 p.m., said Danilo Macamay, head of the Subic Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The victims were rushed to the Lourdes Medical Hospital in nearby Olongapo City for treatment of burns. Dela Cruz remains in a critical condition.  /muf
