TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – Central Luzon electric cooperatives on Thursday deployed more than a hundred linemen and other experts to Cagayan province to help fast-track the restoration of electricity there, following the damage wrought by Typhoon “Ompong.”
Reynaldo Villanueva, president of the Central Luzon Electric Cooperatives Association, said work crews were assigned to the service areas of the Cagayan Electric Cooperative 1 and the Cagayan Electric Cooperative 2.
Strong winds brought by Ompong toppled 1,400 electric poles, according to Villanueva.
The teams were tasked to work on the problem for a month although they would stay longer until power is restored in the province, he said. ARMAND GALANG
