Pagasa: LPA outside Mindanao may turn into a cyclone

The low pressure area outside Mindanao may enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday evening or early Saturday, the state weather bureau said.

The weather disturbance spotted 2,345 kilometers east of Mindanao is likely to form into a tropical cyclone, weather forecaster Gener Quitlong of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

A “shallow circulation” is also being tracked near Palawan, but it is unlikely to develop into a low pressure area.

The intertropical convergence zone will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Western and Central Visayas and Mindanao.

The rest of the country will experience isolated thunderstorms. /muf
