Former Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas” should just keep quiet after the former trade secretary proposed to President Rodrigo Duterte ways to address soaring prices of rice, Malacañang said Wednesday.
In an open letter on Facebook, Roxas, who lost to Duterte in the 2016 presidential elections, called for a “timeout” as the country suffered from the rising rice prices.

Roxas said “only a massive and immediate additional supply of rice can bring down prices to affordable levels.”
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said he hasn’t personally seen the post of Roxas but said the former Aquino Cabinet member should just keep quiet.
“Hindi ko pa naririnig ang kanyang sinasabi, pero dahil sa kanyang karanasan doon sa Leyte ay mabuti pong manahimik na siyang muli,” Roque said in an in interview with dzRH on Wednesday.
Roxas and the Aquino administration have been criticized for their handling of the aftermath of supertyphoon “Yolanda” in November 2013. /cbb
