The Commission on Elections (Comelec) appealed to would-be voters to register now and not wait for the last day of registration on Sept. 29.
The Comelec said last minute registrations would cause long queues, which could be avoided if people would go to the Comelec office nearest them and register before the deadline.
“Being a registered voter means you’re in a position to help bring about actual change,” said Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez in a tweet.
He reminded people that there are only 10 days left to the registration period appealing to “the corps of responsible citizens who will bring change to the country.”
The voter registration period started on July 2.
Aside from applications for new registration, also accepted during the registration period were applications to transfer or reactivate voter registration, changes in entries and inclusion or reinstatement of records on lists of voters.
Applications are to be filed personally at the offices of the Election Officer of cities, districts or towns where applicants reside.
These offices are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.
The Comelec will also deploy field officials to villages, public plazas, schools or other public places designated as venues for satellite registrations.
