2 killed in separate shooting incidents in Masbate
NAGA CITY — Two persons, including an incumbent village councilor, were killed in separate shooting incidents in San Pascual and Pio V. Corpus towns in Masbate province Monday morning, police said.
In San Pascual, the victim Ruben Cinco, 40, councilor of San Pedro village, was reportedly shot six times by four unidentified armed men around 7 a.m. at a rice field, according to the police report.
Police said the suspects could possibly be members of the New People’s Army.
Meanwhile, in Pio V. Corpus, a still unidentified man, estimated to be around 30 to 40 years old, was found in Barangay Bugang around 5:30 p.m. with multiple bullet wounds in different parts of the body.
Police recovered five fired cartridges for caliber .45 gun, one fired cartridge for caliber 9mm gun, two fired cartridges for an M16 rifle, and one slug for caliber .45 pistol.
Investigations are ongoing for both murder cases. /ee
