President Rodrigo Duterte distributed P45,000 in cash on Monday to each of the 22 bereaved families of the landslide victims in Itogon, Benguet.
Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) gave P25,000 while the Office of the President gave P20,000.
Go said the amount from DSWD was intended for funeral expenses and burial assistance to the victims’s families.
More than 50 people were killed in massive landslides in the Cordillera after Typhoon “Ompong” (international name: Mangkhut) unleased its fury in northern Luzon over the weekend.
The President visited the Cordillera on Monday and conducted a post-disaster meeting at the Benguet Provincial Capitol. /ee
