Two minors allegedly involved in an attack the other day on a drunken man in Quezon City were arrested and charged before the city prosecutor’s office, a police investigator said Wednesday.
According to PO2 Alvin Quisumbing of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit homicide section, the two boys aged 14 and 16 were identified by witnesses as among those who mauled 22-year-old Gilbert Moran, leading to his death.
Quisumbing said the minors were charged with “tumultuous affray” under Article 251 of the Revised Penal Code and turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
He added that Moran was found dead at around 7 a.m. on Tuesday inside his house at Block 71 Lot 16 Diver St. in Barangay North Fairview.
More than five hours earlier, the victim was beaten up by a group of five men, including the two teenagers, after he accidentally bumped into one of them on the street, drawing their ire.
They also threw stones at the victim.
“Due to his drunken state, the victim failed to evade the stones and was hit several times,” Quisumbing said.
The victim was brought to a hospital by his relatives for treatment. He was sent home but was found dead after several hours inside his house.
