The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) needs volunteers to help repack relief goods for people in areas affected by Typhoon “Ompong” (international known as Mangkhut).

“The DSWD is in need of volunteers for the repacking of relief goods at the DSWD National Resource Operations Center, Brgy. 195, Chapel Road, Pasay City, in time for the relief operations on the effects of Typhoon Ompong,” the DSWD said in a post on its Twitter account on Saturday.

The volunteers should be ready to spend four hours way for orientation and deployment – with breaks.

They should wear comfortable clothing and closed shoes.

They would bring snacks or packed meals as food provisions are not guaranteed.

“Kindly include the dates and time you prefer, number of people in your group, contact person, and contact details,” DSWD said.

Interested individuals may contact Maureen Ablan and Byrone Benson Barrinuevo of the National Response and Logistics Management Service (NRLMS) through telephone numbers 553-9864 and 852-8081, and mobile number 0916-9781389.

They can also send e-mails to nrlms@dswd.gov.ph.

Ompong made landfall in Baggao, Cagayan, on Saturday, at 1:40 a.m.

It moved through the Cordillera Administrative Region and Ilocos Region before leaving land. /atm
