Heavy rain is to be expected in Metro Manila, Rizal, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Cavite, the state weather bureau said Saturday as it hoisted the yellow rainfall warning.
The yellow rainfall warning (heavy rain)was issued by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in its noon bulletin.
A red rainfall warning (torrential rain) was issued for Zambales and Bataan with serious flooding also expected.
Bulacan, Laguna and Quezon, meanwhile, were issued an orange rainfall warning (intense rain) as light to moderate with occasional heavy rain is expected in the three provinces over the next three hours.
The rainfall warnings were issued by Pagasa even as Typhoon “Ompong” continues to weaken.
As of 11 a.m., Pagasa said “Ompong” continues to move west at 25 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 170 kph and gusts of up to 260 kph.
The weather bureau has already downgraded signal number 4 hoisted in several areas last Friday. /muf
